Fury (2. 01. 4 film) - Wikipedia. Fury is a 2. 01. 4 American war film written and directed by David Ayer, and stars Brad Pitt, Shia La. Beouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal and Jason Isaacs. The film portrays US tank crews in Nazi Germany during the final days of World War II.

Ayer was influenced by the service of veterans in his family and by reading books, such as Belton Y. Cooper's Death Traps, about American armored units in World War II and the high casualty rates suffered by tank crews in Europe. Production began in early September 2. Hertfordshire, England followed by principal photography on September 3.

Oxfordshire. Filming continued for a month and a half at different locations, which included the city of Oxford, and concluded on November 1. Fury was released on October 1. It is April 1. 94.

As the Allies make their final push into Nazi Germany, Don "Wardaddy" Collier, a battle- hardened U. S. Armystaff sergeant in the Second Armored Division, commands an M4 Sherman"Easy Eight" tank nicknamed Fury and its veteran crew: gunner Boyd "Bible" Swan, loader Grady "Coon- Ass" Travis, driver Trini "Gordo" Garcia and assistant driver/bow gunner "Red". They have been together since the North African campaign.

Don has a deep hatred for the infamous German Waffen- SS. Red is killed in action and replaced by Private Norman Ellison, a fresh recruit trained only as a clerk typist. As they move deeper into Germany, Norman's inexperience becomes dangerous. He spots, but fails to shoot Hitler Youth child soldiers who ambush the commanding officer's tank with a Panzerfaust, killing the entire crew, and later during a skirmish with anti- tank guns he hesitates under fire. Don is angered at his incompetence, and after the battle he orders Norman to execute a captured German soldier for wearing a U.

S. Army coat. When Norman refuses, Don wrestles the pistol into his hand and forces him to pull the trigger, killing the prisoner and traumatizing Norman. Don then leads the tanks to capture a small German town, where Norman kills several German soldiers who were burning alive after being struck by white phosphorus, much to Gordo's annoyance, telling Norman he should have "let them burn". While searching an apartment, Don and Norman find a German woman, Irma, and her younger cousin, Emma. Don gives the frightened women eggs and asks for hot water to clean up.

Norman starts to play their piano and Emma sings along. The two go into the bedroom and have sex. When Irma tries to intervene, Don stops her, saying that the two are "young and alive". The four then share a meal, but the rest of the crew drunkenly barges in, with Grady viciously harassing the women, angering Don and Norman, the former of whom rebukes Grady. They are then called away for an urgent mission, and as the men prepare to leave, German artillery targets the town, with Emma being killed in the barrage, traumatizing Norman even further. The platoon is ordered to capture and hold a vital crossroads in order to protect the division's supplies and rear echelon.

On the way, they are ambushed by a Tiger tank. Don orders a counterattack, and eventually destroys the Tiger by outmaneuvering it and firing into its thinner rear armor, but the other three Allied tanks and his radio are knocked out. He decides to continue on alone to the crossroads. Upon arriving at the crossroads, the tank is immobilized by a landmine.

While scouting a nearby house, Grady apologizes to Norman for his treatment towards him and the two make amends. Don sends Norman to scout a nearby hill, while Grady, Gordo, and Bible begin working on repairing the tank. While on guard, Norman spots an approaching Waffen- SS battalion heading their way, much to the crew's horror. The crew prepare to flee, but Don refuses to leave, stating that Fury is his only true home. Norman also refuses to leave Don, with the rest of the crew eventually agreeing to stay.

They disguise Fury to make it appear knocked out and hide inside. While they wait, Norman is finally accepted by the rest of the crew, and is given the nickname, "Machine." As night falls, they successfully ambush the Germans, and in the intense, prolonged fighting, scores of Germans and most of the crew are killed: Grady is killed by a Panzerfaust that penetrates the turret, Gordo accidentally drops one of his own grenades into the tank after being shot, sacrificing himself by covering it with his body, and Bible is shot in the head by a sniper who also severely wounds Don. Out of ammunition and surrounded, Don orders Norman to escape through the emergency hatch in the floor, as the Germans drop grenades into the tank. Norman slips out just before they explode, killing Don. Norman is spotted by a young SS soldier, who hesitates, then leaves with his comrades without alerting them.

The next morning, Norman crawls back inside the tank, where he covers Don's body with his coat. He hears movement outside and, grabbing Don's revolver, prepares to make his last stand. To his relief, American soldiers have arrived, praising him as a hero. As Norman is being driven away, he looks back at the hundreds of dead Germans lying around the destroyed Fury. Production[edit]Casting[edit]On April 3, 2. Sony started to assemble the cast for the film when Brad Pitt, who previously starred in 2.

WWII- set Inglourious Basterds, entered final talks to take the lead role of Wardaddy.[6] On April 2. Shia La. Beouf joined the cast.[7] On May 1 it was announced that Logan Lerman had also joined Fury's cast, playing Pitt's crew member Norman Ellison.[8] On May 1. The Hollywood Reporter announced that Michael Peña was in negotiations to play a member of Pitt's tank crew.

With his addition to the cast, Fury became one of the few films to show Hispanic- Americans serving in WW2.[9] On May 1. Jon Bernthal joined the cast as Grady Travis, a cunning, vicious and world- wise Arkansas native.[1. On August 2. 6, Scott Eastwood also joined the cast, playing Sergeant Miles.[1. On September 1. 9, Brad William Henke joined as Sergeant Roy Davis, commander of another tank, Lucy Sue. The third Sherman destroyed by the Tiger).[1. Jason Isaacs was cast on October 7, 2.

Other cast members include Xavier Samuel, Jim Parrack, Eugenia Kuzmina, Kevin Vance, and Branko Tomović.[1. Tiger 1. 31 – the only operating Tiger I tank in the world – was lent by The Tank Museum for the film.

It is the first time a genuine Tiger I tank was used in a contemporary war film since 1. The Tank Museum's M4. A2 7. 6mm HVSS Sherman in 2. Fury in the film.[1. Prior to filming, Ayer required the actors to undergo a four- month preparation process. This included a week- long boot camp run by Navy SEALs. Pitt stated, "It was set up to break us down, to keep us cold, to keep us exhausted, to make us miserable, to keep us wet, make us eat cold food.

Bunker reader Dee Findlay stole the show as Clearwater stood up to Scientology last night « The Underground Bunker By now you’ve probably heard that the city of Clearwater is the proud owner of a 1. Church of Scientology, which wanted the plot for its own uses. The parcel sits between City Hall and two of Scientology’s Clearwater landmarks, the Fort Harrison and Oak Cove hotels, where wealthy Scientologists come from around the world to pay for expensive auditing levels they can get nowhere else. Miscavige said he wanted the plot for a swimming pool for guests at the Oak Cove, which was farcical. The real reason, former Scientology spokesman Mike Rinder told us, was to keep non- Scientologists away from the Fort Harrison, the church’s holiest spot on Earth. But at last night’s city council meeting, no Scientologists or church executives came forward to speak during the time for public comment before the council’s vote.

And one person who did come forward to speak really stole the show. It was our own Dee Findlay, longtime Underground Bunker reader and Clearwater resident, whom we wrote about in 2. We knew her story, but still, what she said at the meeting knocked us over. After a faltering start about what she intended to talk about, she found her footing…What I’d like to say — which I haven’t, and before I die, and I’m 8. I’ll be 8. 1 soon. And I hadn’t had the nerve to say it before: I’m sorry.

And I apologize to the citizens of Clearwater for being a volunteer covert operator for the organization in the early 8. I thought I was helping. I was a good member of the church. And I thought they needed my help with their enemies. But that’s not true. I found that out later. Of all the speakers, her message was the most personal.

We talked to her after the meeting, and after the council had voted 5- 0 to purchase the parcel and keep it out of Scientology’s hands.“When they voted I yelled a great wahoo, really loud. I couldn’t help it,” she says. Dee started in Scientology in 1. Scientology’s spy wing. In one operation, she managed to get a volunteer receptionist job working for city commissioner Richard Tenney at his hot- tub store. He was running for re- election at the time, and Dee’s job was to see who was donating to his campaign.“When checks came in, I would write down who wrote them, and I was also turning over addresses and amounts to the church,” she says. Tenney lost re- election.

We asked her what the church’s attitude was to the city and its leaders.“They believed that it was their town, and they had to get rid of all their enemies,” she says. It took a long time for me to realize that no, they don’t own Clearwater.”She left Scientology for several years before she was briefly sucked back in about six years ago. Since then, she’s wanted to say something to the people of her town.“I finally did it. I wanted to go and apologize to the citizens of Clearwater.”She shared with us a fun vignette from the night’s long meeting. Although no Scientologists came up to the podium to speak, there was at least one member of the church in the audience.“I was actually sitting next to a Scientologist,” Dee says.

She describes their conversation: “I was a Scientologist in the 7. Dee told her. “So was I! In Seattle.”“Are you getting up to speak?”“I don’t think so, are you?”“Yeah, I’m going to.”“For or against?”“For the city.”“Oh, OK.”“Are you OSA?” Dee says she asked, referring to the spy division she used to volunteer for.“No.”“Well I was for a little while,” Dee told her. After Dee went to deliver her remarks, when she returned to her seat the woman was gone. We told her that her words produced a huge reaction here at the website last night.
